| Indication | Gastrointestinal worms in dogs including roundworms (Toxocara, Toxascaris), hookworms ( Ancylostoma caninum, A. braziliense, A. ceylanicum, Uncinaria sp.), whipworms (Trichuris) and tapeworms (Echinococcus, Dipylidium, Taenia sp.); and to control the shedding of oocysts of the protozoan Giardia sp. in dogs. |

| Actions | Praziquantel destroys the tapeworm's ability to defend itself from the host's digestive enzymes and immune system. It also appears to interfere with the musculature of the scolex such that the parasite loses its attachment to the gut wall.Febantel acts upon the energy pathways of roundworm parasites; pyrantel embonate interferes with their nervous system. The roundworm parasites are therefore attacked via two separate modes of action. |
| Precautions | When using to treat Giardia, Drontal should be used only in proven cases of infection.Disposal Dispose of used containers by wrapping in paper and placing in garbage. |
